Around 75,000 music lovers to enjoy NN North Sea Jazz festival

On 13, 14 and 15 July 2018, the NN North Sea Jazz festival will take place in Rotterdam Ahoy. Every year, the festival welcomes around 75,000 music lovers, with 150 concerts on 15 different stages. Though the visitor numbers are impressive, the festival still retains its intimate character.

North Sea Jazz started in 1976. The first festival featured performances by internationally renowned jazz legends, such as Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie and Stan Getz. Over the years, NN North Sea Jazz has evolved into a world-class festival and the largest indoor music festival in the world, where the past, present and future of jazz are featured over three days.

Next to a firm base of jazz, many other genres are featured, including blues, soul, funk, hip hop, world, pop, and many more. This year’s line-up includes Earth, Wind & Fire, Chaka Khan, Nile Rodgers & Chic, The O’Jays, Emeli Sandé and Pat Metheny. Besides enjoying top names from around the world, visitors also have the opportunity to discover new artists.

The 2018 festival is the first of NN Group’s partnership with North Sea Jazz. In cooperation with our partners, we are organising activities before and during the festival to offer jazz fans an enhanced experience. For example, several free jazz concerts took place at the NN DE Café in Rotterdam, as part of the fringe festival North Sea Round Town.

During NN North Sea Jazz, unique jazz photographs by Dutch photographer Ed van der Elsken will be on display, in an exhibition by our partner the Nederlands Fotomuseum Rotterdam, supported by Nationale-Nederlanden.

Each festival evening will conclude with ‘North Sea Late Night’, a new talk show from the NN North Sea Jazz festival grounds. Remco Barbier, Head of Branding at NN Group: 'We want to let music lovers experience something special at the festival. The North Sea Late Night talk show is a great way to end the day. The hosts will look back on the highlights, together with Dutch and international artists and jazz fans in the relaxed atmosphere of the festival. With so much musical talent at the talk show table, there will undoubtedly be some special conversations. This talk show fits well with our brand promise “You matter”, with which we want to show that what is important for our customers is important for NN.'

The NN North Sea Jazz partnership offers NN the opportunity to engage with stakeholders in a positive atmosphere. We want to build long-term relationships with the communities in which we are active. NN’s sponsorships put the spotlight on our organisation, and support both our history and our future as a caring organisation. The NN North Sea Jazz festival has added music to our strong running sponsorships and cultural partnerships.
