In 1845, one of the predecessors of NN Group - fire insurance company De  Nederlanden van 1845 - was founded by Christiaan Henny and Gerrit-Jan Dercksen.

The office was located in Dercksen's home in Zutphen at Ravenstraatje 3. In a small room in the house, they placed the company’s safe. It was known as the ‘brandkas van Henny’ (Henny’s safe). In it, they stored the money for reimbursing their customers following fire damage.

Since 2013, a dedicated room in the house has been filled with artefacts from De Nederlanden van 1845. There you can see photos from old offices, fire insurance logos, nameplates and policy papers related to De Nederlanden van 1845 and to the city of Zutphen.

You will also find an old-fashioned sweet shop and a monastic library inside the beautifully restored house.
