Malou van den Berg wins TEDxAmsterdamWomen Talent Night 2022

NN Group has been a proud partner of TEDxAmsterdamWomen since 2018: a platform that supports people with ‘ideas worth spreading’ and stresses the importance of equality, courage and shaping the future together.

In the run-up to the main event, TEDxAmsterdamWomen hosts Talent Night together with NN: a platform for aspiring speakers to take the stage for three minutes and share their game-changing ideas in front of a jury. NN Group's Head of Human Capital Development, Carolien Handlogten, was a jury member at this event.

Carolien says: ‘As a supporter of talent we are dedicated to diversity and inclusion all year round. We share TEDxAmsterdamWomen’s commitment to female leadership and will help the winner to take the next steps in their life and career.’

The winner of the 2022 event was Malou van den Berg with her inspiring talk on the concept of modern families, based on her experience as a same-sex parented family and the prejudice she has experienced. She calls for a focus on values over norms.

Malou says of her winning talk: ‘My talk was about modern families, and the reactions you get from society when you deviate from the norm. I'm very happy to have a platform like this and I really want to share my story with more people, because it is an eye opener that can help make people more aware of the impact of their reactions. I think by doing that, we can create a more inclusive society together.’

Malou will bring her talk to the main TEDxAmsterdamWomen stage in December, and also wins a tailor-made mentorship by NN Group to take the next steps in her life and career. ‘I'm very much looking forward to the mentorship, where I’d like to get some guidance on how to bring this issue to a bigger audience,’ Malou adds. ‘Not only for me, but for other people who deviate from the norm, and my son's generation too, because that's where it begins.’
