The war that lasted

In 2020 it is 75 years since World War II ended in the Netherlands. The Nationaal Archief stores the largest collection of war archives in the Netherlands, with nine kilometres of documents.

In the exhibition ‘The war that lasted’, the Nationaal Archief shows the challenges that the Netherlands faced after World War II. Documents and photos tell personal histories of the trial of collaborators and war criminals, of those returning from extermination and concentration camps, and the identification of those killed. The situation in the Dutch East-Indies is also highlighted, where after the capitulation a new period of violence and great uncertainty began. Despite the peace, the war continued. The exhibition is on show at the Nationaal Archief in The Hague until 12 July 2020.

On a journey with the photographer

Nationale-Nederlanden sponsored the exhibition ‘On a journey with the photographer’ featuring 235 photos by famous photographers from many countries and cultures from the past 125 years. This photo exhibition was on display from 8 September 2016 to 8 January 2017 in the Nationaal Archief in The Hague.
